Which course should I take first?

If you are new to the industry, start with the TXDPS Level II Non-Commissioned Security Officer course ($99). It is the state-required foundation for working as an unarmed security officer in Texas. Once you are registered, Level III ($249) qualifies you to carry a firearm on duty.

How do I enroll in a class?

How often do classes run?

Level II and Level III classes run regularly on weekdays and weekends. LTC, USCCA, and First Aid/CPR/AED classes are scheduled throughout the month. Contact us for the next available dates.

Do you offer private or on-site group training?

Yes. We deliver private classes for security companies, corporate teams, churches, schools, and HOAs — either at our Sugar Land classroom or at your facility. Corporate CPR and First Aid packages are available for teams of any size.

What are the requirements for Level II?

You must be at least 18 years old, have a valid government-issued ID, and pass a TXDPS background check. The class is classroom-based and covers Texas law, use of force, patrol procedures, report writing, and ethics.

What are the requirements for Level III?

Level III is a 45-hour commissioned security officer course. You must be at least 21, hold a valid Texas ID, pass a TXDPS background check, and successfully complete both the written exam and the firearms qualification on the range.

Level II is a 4-hour classroom session completed in a single day. Level III spans multiple days of classroom instruction plus range qualification. Certificates are issued on completion so you can submit your TXDPS application right away.

Do you issue the state license, or does TXDPS?

We are a licensed TXDPS training school and issue your training certificate. The actual registration or commission is issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety after you submit your application, fingerprints, and fees. We walk you through every step.

Can I fail the course?

Students must pass a written exam and, for Level III, a firearms qualification. If you do not pass on the first attempt, we work with you on a retest — we would rather you leave competent than just certified.

What does the Texas License to Carry course include?

The LTC course ($149) runs about four hours of classroom instruction plus range qualification. It covers Texas handgun law, use of force, safe storage, conflict resolution, and the state shooting proficiency test.

Do I need my own handgun and ammunition?

You are welcome to bring your own handgun, holster, and ammunition. If you do not have one, let us know when you register and we will arrange a loaner and ammunition for range day.

What is the USCCA Basic Handgun course?

The USCCA Basic Handgun course ($149) is a four-hour class for new and returning shooters covering firearm fundamentals, safe handling, marksmanship, and defensive mindset. It is not a substitute for the LTC course but pairs well with it.

Is LTC required to work armed security?

No. Armed security work in Texas requires a TXDPS Level III commission, not an LTC. An LTC covers personal carry as a private citizen. Many students take both.

Is the CPR certification nationally recognized?

Yes. We are an American Red Cross authorized training provider. Your Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification ($100) is nationally recognized and valid for two years.

How long is the CPR class?

The blended classroom and hands-on skills session is typically completed in a single session, with certification issued digitally on the same day.

Can you train my whole staff at our workplace?

Yes — our Corporate CPR & First Aid program brings the instructor, manikins, and AED trainers to your site with scheduling built around your shifts.

What does tuition include?
